Shoppers at The Mall at Sierra Vista in Sierra Vista, Arizona can now get library books from a glassfront vending machine provided by the Sierra Vista Library, according to a myheraldreview.com report.
The machine, funded with $30,000 provided in part by the city and Friends of the Library, holds 135 books and can be accessed by punching in a library card number or scanning a library card.
The machine's glass door opens once the RFID tracking chip authenticates the patron's identification. The patron can take as many books as they wish.
Patrons can return the books to the machine or to the main library.
