The Pittsburgh Penguins are partnering with Aramark, the foodservice contractor, to introduce self-ordering kiosks, self-checkout scanners, mobile ordering and touchscreen technology at PPG Paints Arena — in an effort to combat COVID-19 and to speed up concession waits for fans, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.
The self-checkout scanners utilize Mashgin artificial intelligence to allow fans simply to place the items they are buying on the scan pad for scanning and payment.
Self-ordering kiosks will be installed at locations where fans can customize and pay for their orders.
Customers will order from their seats and retrieve them at designated stands using the Penguins' mobile app.
