PHILADELPHIA -- Revenue in Aramark's 2015 first quarter fell 1.6% to $3.7 billion. Income was $116 million, or 47¢ a share, compared with $109 million, or 51¢ a share, in the comparable 2014 period.
The Philadelphia-based contract foodservice and vending giant said a calendar shift resulting from a 53rd week in 2014 reduced first-quarter sales by about 3%.
Sales in Aramark's North American food and support services segment, the company's largest unit, fell 1% to $2.6 billion, impacted by the calendar shift and the timing of "transformation initiatives" and new account startup costs.
"Despite a more uncertain economic environment, we continue to execute our focused strategy," said Aramark president and chief executive Eric J. Foss. "We are encouraged by our growth prospects and remain committed to creating sustainable long-term shareholder value."
