Aramark intros virtual dining room platform for colleges

Aramark Collegiate Hospitality has introduced a virtual dining innovation called The Drop, a mobile platform that allows contactless, digital-only ordering and payment for pick-up or delivery, according to a press release.

"The Drop uses existing kitchen space, equipment and staff members to offer new brands and menu items on a college campus," Karen Parker, chief marketing officer, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, said in the release. "It's a great way to provide variety and continue to deliver great food and great experiences to our customers."

Guests choose from several menu categories in the interface that are most popular on campus, such as burgers, chicken, sandwiches and authentic ethnic cuisine.

Then, based on performance and market trends, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality team members add or remove brands and menu concepts from The Drop over time.

Several design options are available, ranging from a pick-up window to a complete dining concept. Each can be used as designed or customized to a specific client's needs.

Approximately 20 campuses will offer The Drop to students this fall.
