WEST DUNDEE, IL -- The Amusement and Music Operators Association has announced that its 2018 On the Road Continuing Education event will be held at the Rosemont (IL) Hilton on Oct. 26 and 27. Rosemont is adjacent to O'Hare Airport in greater Chicagoland.
At 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, program registrants can take part in a motor coach tour of two industry factories: Stern Pinball in Elk Grove Village and Arachnid 360 in Loves Park.
The formal program will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, with a keynote speech by Dr. Michael L. Kasavana, an authority on innovative solutions for attended and unattended points of sale in the hospitality industry.
Dr. Kasavana is the first National Automatic Merchandising Association endowed professor in Hospitality Business at Michigan State University's School of Hospitality Business. Recently retired from MSU after nearly four decades of teaching and research, Dr. Kasavana has studied and written extensively on online and offline, cash and cashless, contact and contactless, physical and virtual data exchange, location-based services, and interchange and merchant fee-based digital media. He has conducted extensive research into the impact of technology on hospitality industry productivity, profitability, and competitive advantage.
The keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion of Cashless Technology. Next up will be a presentation on Digital Marketing Solutions by Taylor McGlamery, director of strategy at Trustworkz (Atlanta, GA), which provides social media, search engine optimization, Web presence and paid-advertising management for North American family entertainment centers.
Rounding out Saturday's curriculum will be a ATM panel exchange on general cash management. The concluding session will be a round-table discussion of managing efficiencies for optimum performance, facilitated by industry experts Chip O'Hara, Midwest Coin Concepts (Superior, WI), and Sam Westgate, J&J Ventures (Effingham, IL).
On Sunday morning, Oct. 28, senior professional in human resources Kara McClure will lead a session on effective communication in the workplace. It will start at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon.
