The two-page document (single sheet), titled "What Is An Amusement Route Operator?," explains the music and games industry from the operator's viewpoint. It provides descriptions of locations in which coin machines are placed, the traditional operator business model and the most popular types of equipment.
"The purpose is to explain the industry quickly to people from outside the industry, including lawmakers, civic groups, potential customers, guest speakers and anyone who may not understand what we do," Bergman said. "We want to communicate to the general public and government better than we have in the past."
Bergman is a third-generation amusement operator whose family history in coin-op dates back to the era when pinball machines were powered by dry cell batteries.
He designed the AMOA flyer to be customizable, and to act like a Wikipedia page that operators can modify and enhance to suit their needs. This way, operators can change the document's focus for their intended readership or circumstances.
