PHILADELPHIA -- AMI Entertainment has published its list of 2015's top jukebox artists, songs and music videos. AMI's library includes millions of songs that are played in tens of thousands of locations across the United States and Canada, so its jukebox yearend music charts represent a broad cross-section of popular music tastes among contemporary bar and restaurant patrons.
In the new music category, Canada's The Weeknd made an impressive splash, with three of its hits -- "Can't Feel My Face", "Earned It" and "The Hills" -- featured in AMI's 2015 Top 20 New Songs. Luke Bryan, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj each had several hits in the same list. Other popular artists in the new music arena were Big Sean, Silento and Elle King.
AMI pointed out that its Continental and other music video jukeboxes allow customers to enjoy not only a very wide range of music, but also music videos by their favorite artists. In 2015, AMI's most popular music video was the smash pop hit "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. Coming in second was "Blurred Lines," last year's chart-topper from Robin Thicke. Those videos and many more are available on any AMI music video jukebox.
Rock again was most popular jukebox music genre last year, representing 37% of all jukebox plays. Lynyrd Skynyrd was the most-played rock jukebox artist, followed by such rock icons as Kid Rock, Guns N' Roses and AC/DC. But while rock was the most popular genre, country singers Jason Aldean and George Strait were the top two artists played across all AMI jukeboxes.
Taylor Swift was first among the top five pop artists, and Drake headed the list of the top five rap and hip-hop artists. Romeo Santos led the top five Latin artists, while Marvin Gaye came in first among the top five R&B and soul artists.
AMI Entertainment and its network of vending operators serve more than 25,000 locations by delivering a multiscreen entertainment experience. The company reaches more than 69 million U.S. consumers a month through its integrated entertainment platform (jukebox music, interactive television, games, and mobile). AMI maintains offices in Grand Rapids, MI, Chicago and Philadelphia, and overseas in the UK.
