Source: AMI Entertainment Network | Released Mar. 25, 2015 PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 25, 2015 --AMI Entertainment Network, the global leader in on-premise digital entertainment, showcased several new products and upgrades at the 2015 Amusement Expo in Las Vegas.AMI kicked off the show with its annual distributor breakfast hosted by chief executive Mike Maas and senior vice-president of sales John Margold. The entertainment company gave its distributor network a sneak peak at some new AMI products, services and updates unveiled at the show.
The biggest news was AMI's rollout of its operator-run tournament system for Tap TV. These hour-by-hour or multiday competitive events provide location guests the opportunity to turn their trivia expertise into real-world prizes and rewards.
"When you look across the landscape of mobile apps today, you can't deny the popularity of trivia," said AMI chief creative officer A.J. Russo. "This new tournament system affords AMI customers the opportunity to ride that wave by offering their patrons an experience that actually rewards them for visiting their locations to play."
Tap TV Trivia Tournaments are organized and scheduled by operators with a brand new Web tool available on the AMI operator site. Once scheduled, this system automatically promotes itself without any additional work required. Televisions at participating locations begin promoting its availability and Tap TV mobile app users are automatically alerted about an available tournament nearby. Both the mobile app and connected TVs provide regular updates on current standings and even automatically alert winners at the conclusion of the tournament.
Unlike billiard, dart, touchscreen, trackball or other location-based tournament systems, Tap TV Trivia Tournaments do not limit the number of participants that can play at once. Each Tap TV location can support an unlimited number of tournament participants at any time because participants use their mobile phones to connect, pay and play.
[Editor's note: Tap TV Tournaments are not available in all states, so AMI recommends that operators ask their sales reps where it can be played. Visit amientertainment.com/tournaments for more information.]
AMI also revealed additional new features coming soon to Tap TV. This summer, Tap TV Trivia will introduce different schedules enabling a location to create a trivia experience better tailored for its customers. This release will include more than 25,000 new questions and nine new trivia game categories, cover such topics as auto racing, food, home improvement, military and travel, among others. Locations will also be able to easily identify and reward their top trivia players every hour with the new "Player of the Hour Rankings." The feature will be available everywhere in the U.S.
AMI announced several jukebox enhancements at Amusement Expo, including new hardware components. AMI's large screen (32") NGX jukeboxes are now shipping with an upgraded 1,000W. 4-channel amplifier; NGX Mini jukeboxes are now available with a 1,000W. 2-channel amplifier, with the option to upgrade to a 4-channel. AMI's new Marquee skin, a light assembly that can be fully customized with operator and/or location messaging, and a trackball kit that makes the NGX ADA compliant, round out the new jukebox offerings.
The company's mobile app, AMI BarLink, now supports Apple Pay. Barlink is one of the first apps in the industry to adopt Apple's NFC payment system. Spanish and French language support will soon be available in the app.
