American Licorice acquires Torie & Howard

American Licorice Co., which makes the Red Vines and Sour Punch brands, has acquired the Torie & Howard brand, maker of Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy and Chewie Fruities Organic Candy Chews, for an undisclosed sum, according to a press release.

The candies are USDA Organic and Kosher certified, allergen friendly, non-GMO, vegan and gluten free.

Torie Burke, who co-founded the company with Howard Slatkin in 2012, has joined American Licorice team.

Torie & Howard also complements recent American Licorice investments, including a minority investment in Theo Chocolate Inc., an organic, fair trade certified chocolate maker in North America, and an investment in Mindful Nourishment, LLC, the creators of Zing bars.
