Airheads debuts underwater vending machine for pools, takes "fun" instead of cash

This summer, Airheads is debuting an underwater vending machine that dispenses Airheads candy while submerged in a pool, according to a press release from Perfetti Van Melle.
The vending machine is fully waterproof in depths of up to eight feet and equipped with an air propulsion system that launches the candy out of the machine, according to a press release. Rather than taking cash or cashless payment, the machine takes "fun" in exchange for the candy. The machine provides swimmers with prompts such as "do a flip," or "have a tea party," underwater and then accepts the movement as payment.
"Our underwater vending machine is sure to get adults excited about jumping back in the pool and re-living carefree long summer days," Craig Cuchra, VP of marketing at Perfetti Van Melle, maker of Airheads, said in the release. "So many people have nostalgic memories of savoring Airheads at the pool on a hot day and we want to bring this feeling back, and with a fun twist."
