YORBA LINDA, CA -- William K. (Bill) Walsh, founder of Continental Vending (Anaheim, CA), died on Sept. 13 after a brief illness.

Walsh was a long-time innovator and industry leader. He started Continental Vending in 1961, initially working from his garage. He was a founder of the California Automatic Vendors Council, which he led as president, and subsequently chaired the National Automatic Merchandising Association in 1988.

Active in industry affairs, Walsh's commitment to the future of vending was demonstrated by the establishment in 1996 of the Walsh Family CAVC Scholarship Foundation to award scholarships to aid students sponsored by member companies of the council.

Walsh received the industry's highest awards. He was honored as NAMA Person of the Year in 2007 and was the recipient of CAVC's Sidney S. Kallick Memorial Award and Harold Steuber Award, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Food Donor of the Year.

Services will be held Friday, September 20 in his hometown of Yorba Linda.
