WASHINGTON, DC -- Vagabond Vending has announced the promotion of Scott Meskin to president; he had been vice-president of business development. As a member of Vagabond's executive team, he will report to chief executive officer Michael Lovett.

Meskin, a longtime coffee service and vending operator who was honored as the National Automatic Merchandising Association's Operator of the Year in 2016, assumes responsibility for guiding the technology direction of the Vagabond platform to match the ever-changing needs of foodservice operators. In addition, he'll lead the implementation of technology solutions and technology-driven business processes in partnership with Vagabond members in their endeavors to build bigger, more profitable businesses. He will continue to draw on his experiences as an operator and his nearly two years as Vagabond's business development vice-president to ensure Vagabond's solutions and technology deployments are aligned with the needs of forward-thinking convenience services business owners striving to disrupt the industry.

"Scott has successfully made the transition from an entrepreneur who built and managed an expansive food and beverage operation into a thought leader who has facilitated and advised dozens of other business owners on how to strategically scale their operations using the technology solutions Vagabond provides so that they may be as successful as Scott was with his own business," said Lovett. "Since joining the Vagabond team in 2018, Scott has demonstrated impressive problem-solving abilities, inclusive leadership skills, and a steadfast desire to facilitate innovation in our ever-changing industry. We're so happy to have Scott on our team and as a resource to our members as they navigate the difficult process of adopting technology to improve their business."

Meskin joined the Vagabond team in March 2018 after devoting more than 30 years to building and managing his convenience services operation, Black Tie Services. Scott started Black Tie in 1989 and built the organization from one machine to a regional powerhouse that operated nearly 7,000 machines and more than 100 micromarkets as well as extensive office wholesaling services throughout the Mid-Atlantic. He sold Black Tie Services to Accent Food Services early in 2017, serving as Accent's president of the Mid-Atlantic Region during the transition.

As business development vice-president at Vagabond, Meskin leveraged his perspective as a former operator to engage with existing and prospective Vagabond members to provide guidance on implementing technology solutions and business processes to maximize profitability and growth. His ability to understand operators' needs and match them with Vagabond's solutions, such as the Vagabond VMS, Insight telemetry network and vīv cashless and consumer engagement platform, allowed him to excel in his role at Vagabond.

Vagabond makes technology that enables commerce in workplace communities. Its operations, communications and payments technologies serve the convenience services industry -- businesses that provide vending, foodservice and related amenities to workplaces. Operators use Vagabond's enterprise resource planning platform for inventory management, product merchandising, service scheduling, truck routing, and financial reconciliation. Vagabond's IoT network delivers real-time business intelligence to operating teams in the field so they can maximize operating profits. Its workplace payments application, vīv, enables mobile payment at vending machines and convenience markets; order-ahead and delivery at cafeterias and restaurants; and the ordering and fulfillment of office, breakroom and janitorial supplies in the workplace. This comprehensive commerce platform allows Vagabond to provide data-driven services to consumer packaged goods companies enabling promotion of particular products to individuals in real time, depending on their buying habits.
