Extreme ATMs, ATM Industry Association

The ATM Industry Association, a trade group for the ATM industry, has published the Extreme ATMs Dossier. The free, downloadable document chronicles some of the world's most remote, humorous and unusual ATMs -- from Antarctica and China's Forbidden City to the private machine in NBA hoopster DeShawn Stevenson's house.

Located in Beijing, the Forbidden City was the location of the imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty, during the years from 1420 to 1912. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction. Also pictured here is an attention-grabbing ATM display at the Dusit Zoo in Bangkok.

The dossier, according to the association, was compiled in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the ATM, which is in 2017.

Founded in 1997, ATMIA is a global nonprofit trade association with more than 5,000 members in 65 countries. The membership base covers the full range of the global industry comprised of more than 2.2 million installed ATMs.
