CELEBRATE: Eye-catching banner atop 3-oz. micromarket/c-store packs and 2-oz. vend packages invites cookie-lovers to vie for branded collector's cookie jars in a text-to-win 40th anniversary promotion. |
ELMHURST, IL -- Kellogg is celebrating 40 years of Famous Amos cookies with a promotion extending across the vending, micromarket and convenience store channels and into grocery. The text-message-based program, which began in May, offers consumers a chance to win a Famous Amos Collector Cookie Jar, appealing to the nostalgic affection of those who grew up with the cookies, as well as those just now discovering them.
The promotion is conducted by means of text imprinted on 2-oz. packages of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies for vending, 3-oz. "grab & go" packages for micromarkets and c-stores, and specially marked packages in grocery. Their bright, celebratory graphics attract attention and spur sales.
In 1975, legendary cookie baker and entrepreneur Wally Amos set out to develop the ultimate chocolate chip cookie on the basis of a legacy family recipe. It quickly gained a large, devoted following through word of mouth (thus "famous"), and has retained that hold on the loyalty of chocolate chip connoisseurs. Kellogg reports that the cookies continue to meet the high expectations of their fans.
