MINNEAPOLIS -- General Mills said it is removing artificial flavors and colors from all of its fruit flavored snacks. These include Fruit Roll-Ups, Fruit by the Foot, Fruit Gushers and Scooby-Doo snacks.
New flavors and colors will come from fruits and vegetable juices, among other natural sources. The reformulated snacks will begin appearing on shelves starting in January, with a complete changeover targeted by the end of 2017.
The food manufacturer's Mott's and Fiber One fruit snacks are already free of artificial flavors and colors.
In a recent survey by General Mills, more than 50% of people eating fruit flavored snacks today said they would be more likely to buy them if artificial flavors and colors from artificial sources were removed.
