DS Services Enters Sparkling Water Category With Sparkletts Extensions

ATLANTA -- DS Services of America Inc. is entering the fast-growing sparkling beverage category with two extensions to its Sparkletts bottled still water brand. New zero-calorie Sparkletts Sparkling Water is a lightly flavored sparkling beverage offered in flavor-free Simply Sparkling, lemon lime and raspberry. Zero-calorie Sparkletts Ice comes in pink grapefruit, black raspberry and orange mango.

The Atlanta-based water delivery and office coffee service giant began rolling out the new sparkling drinks to office, retail and home customers and retailers in April.

Canadian beverage manufacturer Cott Corp. acquired DS Services for $1.25 billion earlier this year. Cott has traditionally focused on carbonated soft drinks. It said the deal could extend its beverage portfolio into water and coffee and home and office delivery services, and broaden its retail presence. DS says it has about 1.5 million customers.
