WAYLAND, MI -- Denali Flavors, which developed the Moose Tracks ice cream, has teamed up with Georgia Nut Co. (Skokie, IL) to formulate a ready-to-eat snack around the Moose Tracks concept. It's rolling out in three "trail mix" flavors, two of them based on Denali's top-selling ice cream flavors Original Moose Tracks and Extreme Chocolate Moose Tracks. The third flavor, Caramel Moose Tracks, was created for the new snack mix launch.
Available in 1.5-oz. single-serve impulse packages, 3.0-oz. "sharing size" and 6.0-oz. bags, Moose Tracks snack mixes have suggested retail prices of 99¢, $1.79 and $2.99, respectively. Custom sizes and package types are also available to the trade.
Original Moose Tracks Snack Mix features vanilla-coated waffle cone pieces with peanut butter cups, peanuts and Moose Tracks fudge-coated peanuts. Extreme Chocolate Moose Tracks Snack Mix contains Moose Tracks fudge-coated waffle cone pieces, Moose Tracks fudge-filled cups, peanuts and Moose Tracks fudge-coated peanuts. Caramel Moose Tracks Snack Mix contains caramel-coated waffle cone pieces, caramel cups, peanuts and Moose Tracks fudge-coated peanuts.
Last summer, the company expanded its ice cream line with three novelty bars and an ice cream sandwich. The new snack mixes extend the Moose Tracks flavor beyond the ice cream category.
Denali Flavors president Neal Glaeser observed that the time is right for a grab-and-go snack mix "that mirrors the ice cream experience our fans love." The "salty-sweet" Moose Tracks fudge lends itself particularly well to snack food, Glaeser added.
"Georgia Nut has been making quality confections and snacks since 1945," said Kurt Thorsen, vice-president of sales and marketing for Georgia Nut Co. "We've applied 70 years of candy and nut ingredients experience and covered them in Moose Tracks fudge."
Denali also has established a partnership to offer Original Moose Tracks Cookies in the ready-to-eat cookies aisle.
The Original Moose Tracks ice cream flavor was introduced in the mid-1980s by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Wally and June Blume.
