NEW YORK CITY -- Cardtronics Inc., the nation's largest independent ATM operator, has purchased 2,586 cash-dispensing ATMs from Chase, the U.S. consumer and commercial banking arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Terms were not disclosed.
The move effectively exits the banking giant from the off-premises ATM business. According to a statement released jointly by Chase and Cardtronics, the ATMs are primarily located in such high-traffic retail locations as Walgreens and Duane Reade drug stores, as well as airports across the country.
Cardtronics is a leader in managing self-service financial kiosks. The Houston-based company operates an estimated 19,000 machines throughout the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, Poland and Mexico.
