SIOUX FALLS, SD-- The ATM Industry Association has published "Best Practices for ATM Physical Security Version 3," a membership guide with the latest information about counteracting global threats to automated teller machines.
"This new version is required reading for those serious about protecting the ATM as a highly trusted self-service device against threats today," said ATMIA chief executive Mike Lee.
ATMIA began promoting ATM security in 2001 with the establishment of an ATM security conference in London, and shortly afterward it started to publish a series of security manuals to cover the entire ATM security lifecycle.
The latest "Best Practices for ATM Security" is intended to help ATMIA members mitigate the risks of theft of the ATM itself, theft of cash within the ATM, and the compromise of data and electronics. The new publication arrives at a time when thieves targeting ATMs represent a continuing and evolving threat to the industry.
Established in 1997, ATMIA is a nonprofit global trade association with more than 6,500 members in 66 countries.
