PORTLAND OR -- Police here are searching for two suspects responsible for an attempted crash-and-grab of an ATM. The two suspects reportedly crashed a pickup truck into a Walgreens store located at 5420 Northeast 33rd Ave. in the early morning hours of Jan. 27.

The would-be thieves' not overly subtle plan went awry when the vehicle became stuck inside the store. Police responding to a 911 call found the truck, still lodged in the store, the thieves having fled on foot. The suspects are described as white males in dark clothing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Portland Police Bureau's burglary detail at burglary@portlandoregon.gov.

The attempted Portland, OR, robbery is the latest in a series of similar nationwide thefts and attempted thefts of ATMs. On Jan. 23, Dallas chalked up its third crash-and-grab ATM theft in less than 48 hours. The last incident took place at a convenience store called the Wolf Mart located on the 300 block of South St. Augustine Dr. According to law enforcement officials, the criminals were efficient. The robbery took less than a minute.
