Vengo Lab's Touchscreen Vending Machines Roll Off Production Line, Enters Ad Sales Partnership

NEW YORK CITY -- Vengo Labs said its compact touchscreen vending machines are now in full production. The New York City-based company said it has presold 90% of its initial production run -- "several hundred" Vengos -- to vending operators across the country. The compact vender is being assembled by San Diego, CA-based D&K Engineering, an R&D and manufacturing specialist.

Vengo machines can carry products ranging from candy and ear buds to over-the-counter medicine. Partner brands are advertised on the machine's 21.5" touchscreen.

In April, Vengo Labs cofounders Brian Shimmerlik and Steven Bofill won a $2 million deal with "Shark Tank" investors Kevin O'Leary and Lori Greiner, paving the way (with celebrity fanfare) for a large-scale rollout of its machine. Separately, Vengo Labs said it has partnered with Vistar Media, which will push out relevant video and interactive advertisements from its network in real time to individual Vengo screens. Advertisers can designate preferences for locations and demographics on the Vengo network.

Thanks to the Vistar Media deal, advertisers can now buy Vengo ad space, with rates based on location and demographic data, and get real-time performance feedback. In addition to catching the attention of out-of-home consumers with the digital displays, advertisers have the benefit of driving the immediate purchase of their products from machines.
