Golden VERNON HILLS, IL -- Incredible Technologies said it it has begun preparations for the 2017 Golden Tee World Championship, which will be held in Las Vegas next May. The championship will feature 64 of the best players in North America squaring off for more than $70,000 in prize money -- and, of course, Golden Tee "immortality."

Online qualifying on Golden Tee 2017 machines will get under way in November, and will include opportunities for players in every game format through March. Players will be selected from the new "Freaky Friday" daily contests, prize play and money shot. A special contest will permit players in non-prize states to qualify for the World Championship.

"Our goal this year is to include as many players as possible in online qualifying," said IT vice-president of amusement marketing Scott Morrison. "Some formats will run over a couple of months and encourage repeat play, while others will take place on a single daily contest. We expect a lot of excitement and extended play over the five-month qualifying period."

The online qualifier will identify the 64 finalists who will compete head-to-head in Las Vegas, May 19-21. Spectators are encouraged to attend throughout the "wild weekend," and many matches will be live-streamed over the Internet. More than $70,000 in cash prizes is on the line, with $10,000 going to the Golden Tee champion.

"The Golden Tee World Championship is another testament to IT's commitment to the GT franchise," said amusements division vice-president Don Pesceone. "Creating exciting content that encourages repeat play and rewarding players for their skill have become important elements to the brand's ongoing success."

A full breakdown of qualifying options and championship prizes can be found at Livewire. Qualifying leaderboards, standings, full rules and other information will be added to the Livewire throughout the qualifying period.

"We encourage operators to alert their player base of this exciting event," Morrison concluded. "Messages will be sent to games, and posters will be available for download at amusement.itsgames.com."
