ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- The American Amusement Machine Association will hold its 2016 annual membership meeting and Distributors' Gala at the Pleasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. It's scheduled for Sept. 12 through 16.

The event gets under way with an afternoon meeting of AAMA's Steering Committee on Monday, Sept. 12, and concludes with the second edition of the American Amusement Machine Charitable Foundation Kids Event on Friday, Sept. 16. The intervening three days will feature a lively alternation of committee meetings, product presentations and social events. The AAMA board of directors and annual membership meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Among highlights of the weeklong conference are sponsor presentation sessions, scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and again from 8 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. the following day. These will afford sponsoring manufacturers to go into detail about new or enhanced equipment and services. AAMA's government affairs luncheon takes place between Thursday's presentations.

New this year is a keynote address, which will be delivered by Kevin Bachus, Dave and Buster's senior vice-president of entertainment and games strategy, on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Bachus, a former Microsoft executive who was instrumental in bringing that company's Xbox to market, has been a popular speaker at AAMA functions. His experience with videogames began with pioneering game developer Mindscape in the 1980s.

Thursday evening is the climax of the week. This commences with a dinner and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Distributors' Gala. This year's award-winner is AAMA executive vice-president emeritus John Schultz, whose steady hand on the association's tiller over his seven years of service gave AAMA a respected presence in the nation's capital. Previous honorees were Betson Enterprises' Rick Kirby (2014) and Stern Pinball Inc.'s Gary Stern (2015).

The gala, a forum designed to preview new games before they make an appearance at fall and spring trade shows, will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A "60/40" raffle to support the charitable foundation will take place during the exposition.

The games displayed at the gala will be the centerpiece of the second annual AAMCF kids' event on Friday morning, at which children and their families who have been assisted by the foundation will have the opportunity to play the latest games and meet AAMA members. The AAMCF board will meet at 8 a.m. on Sept. 14.
