VERNON HILLS, IL -- Videogame-maker Incredible Technologies said it will begin shipping Golden Tee 2017 on Sept. 26. Software updates will make their way across the country to thousands of amusement vendors who operate the golf machine in bars, taverns, arcades and other public venues.

Amusement operators who own Golden Tee games can now contact IT to reserve their places in the first shipment slot, which historically has translated into a "significant" increase in earnings, according to the manufacturer. Updates are stored on USB flash drives that ship to operators. The new coin-op videogame also is available in dedicated Golden Tee Showpiece cabinets, Showpiece transfer cabinets (which convert older CRT models) and complete update kits.

Golden Tee 2017 features five new 18-hole courses, bringing the total number of virtual courses to 60. They are Pine Coast, Teal Gardens, Juniper Falls, Sandy Reef and Ruby Rock.

Also new in Golden Tee 2017 are online game formats that IT says will broaden the player base by appealing to both experienced and casual players. Closest to the Pin, the popular 9-hole game, is now available in three versions: casual offline, for prizes, and now for stats, allowing players to use their custom golfers and equipment. This fast-paced game is the perfect lunch break format, and is said to be most fun when played by a foursome.

The 2017 update also introduces Player Invitationals, a new way for players to compete in private contests. Players can now set up and invite friends to contests on the GT Caddy app, and then play those contests on commercial game units. Thanks to the GT Caddy app, the setup and selections are made away from the game, so machines are left available so they can earn. IT described this feature as "revolutionary."

"Players and game owners have been asking for a way to compete remotely against friends for a while now," said Don Pesceone, IT's amusement division vice-president. "The combination of our player verification initiative last year and continual improvements of the GT Caddy app make a friends list and private contest system possible. This could be a real game-changer."

The GT Caddy app has also opened the door for more golfer customization than ever before. "It is clear that players want to look unique when they play," said Pesceone. "This year's update will offer three-times the clothing achievements as previous years, releasing them over time to keep players engaged throughout the year. Clothing, clubs and balls can be customized on the GT Caddy while not playing, and players will rush to their favorite locations to see the results."

Operators who preorder course updates for all of their online games will be automatically entered into IT's Awesome Draw, a random drawing for prizes. Prizes include brand-new Showpiece games, full game kits and transfer cabinets, among other items. Awesome Draw prizes will be announced in mid-October, about three weeks after the first 2017 update shipments reach operators.
