NEW YORK CITY -- TouchTunes has released its yearend charts, identifying the most-played jukebox songs and artists for 2016. The annual compilation is based on data collected by TouchTunes' interactive music and entertainment platform, which is installed in 75,000 U.S. bars and restaurants.

TouchTunes' Top-Played Artist of the Year for 2016 is country music star Eric Church, who won the top spot for the second year in a row. The top-played song across all music genres is "Tennessee Whiskey" by country favorite Chris Stapleton. This hit single also topped the music company's charts in 29 states, including Alaska, California and (reasonably enough) Tennessee.

Other top 10 songs were "Work" by Rihanna (featuring Drake), "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks, "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle and "Like a Wrecking Ball" by Eric Church. Also "The Sound of Silence" by Disturbed, "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen, "Smoke a Little Smoke" by Eric Church, "Love Yourself" by Justin Bieber and "Can't Feel my Face" by Weeknd.

The other most-played artists are AC/DC, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Eagles, the Rolling Stones and Johnny Cash.

TouchTunes reports that the songs played on its digital jukeboxes nationwide in 2016 once again were "a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll." Rock was the most-played genre overall. Pop superstar Rihanna was named TouchTunes Top-Played Female Jukebox Artist of the Year. Adele's "Hello" was the top-played song on News Day 2016.

The TouchTunes platform provides location-based digital solutions of which music is the core. TouchTunes' mobile app lets users find nearby jukebox locations, create playlists and control the music in-venue directly from their phones. The app is available on iTunes and Google Play, and has been downloaded more than five million times.
