Stern Pinball, Batman '66 pinball machine, coin-op ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- Stern Pinball Inc. is celebrating its 30th year in business and the 50th anniversary of the iconic American TV series with an Anniversary Edition pinball machine themed to the world-famous "Dynamic Duo," Batman and Robin, and titled "Batman 66."

According to Stern, the new game will immerse players in "campy fun and heart-pounding action" as the nocturnal crime-fighting team comes to the aid of the Gotham City Police. Throughout the game, Batman and Robin work to interpret clues and uncover super-villain plots in an effort to thwart evil plans and capture bad guys. Players are guided through the game by the voices of the original ABC-TV's Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward. The television series ran from January 1966 to March 1968 (three seasons, 120 episodes).

A Hall of Fame pinball development team created the all-new anniversary edition machine. The project was inspired by coin-op game pioneer Joe Kaminkow of Ka-Pow Pinball and spearheaded by Stern Pinball's product development chief, George Gomez, who worked closely with renowned programmer Lyman Sheats to bring the game to life.

The new pin game backs up its fun title and stimulating play experience with state-of-the-art features including a full-color high-definition video display. Driven by Stern's new SPIKE-2 electronic pinball platform, the display produces high-definition graphics and animations, and enables the game to present actual TV footage from the fondly remembered series. The new Batman game also includes a second high-definition display on the playfield as part of an interactive feature.

"We are very proud to celebrate our 30th year in business by making a 50th anniversary Batman 66 game in collaboration with our good friend, Joe Kaminkow," said Stern Pinball founder, chairman and chief executive Gary Stern. "Joe, who was instrumental in starting Stern Pinball 30 years ago, serving as our company's very first game designer, is now one of the gaming industry's leaders."

The Batman 66 Anniversary Edition pinball machine will be available in premium, limited and super limited editions. The company reports that it has no current plans for a Pro model, which would be marketed to amusement vendors. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the premium model is $8,599; the limited edition model has an MSRP of $9,999; and the super limited edition, $14,999.

The SL edition includes a unique art package, as well as multiple translite graphics, an original topper and accessories package, and a high-fidelity 3-channel audio system three times more powerful than those of previous generations. This model will be allocated by invitation, by an application process for pinball collectors. They can apply for an SLE model by completing and submitting an online form. Deadline for receipt of applications is Sept. 30, 2016, 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).

The limited edition model will be offered in two series of 120 games each. Each game in the first series will be named for one of the 120 episodes of the television show; each game in the second will be named for one of the iconic "bat gadgets" used in the series. Thus, a total of 240 LE machines will be produced.

All purchasers who make a deposit on their games will receive a VIP invitation to an exclusive "meet and greet" with Batman (Adam West) at the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel (Wheeling, IL) during the weekend of Chicago's 32nd Pinball Expo. The 2016 Expo will run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16 (Wednesday through Sunday). Simultaneously, Stern is hosting its "epic" 30th anniversary part on Oct. 14. | SEE STORY
