SYDNEY, Australia -- Timezone Group and Helix Leisure jointly announced the appointment of Bala Cherukooru to the newly created position of new store and operations development director for Timezone Australia. Cherukooru will leave his post as general manager of Singapore-based Helix Leisure, which consists of LAI Games, Embed and the Locker Network. His transition from Singapore to Sydney will occur over the next two months.

Timezone is the leading chain of family entertainment centers in the Australasian operating region. It runs more than 200 FECs in six countries. In the past eight months, Timezone Australia has opened three new stores, and plans to open another three in Queensland before the end of the year.

Cherukooru began his career with Timezone and Helix Leisure (formerly the LAI Group) in 2004, starting at Timezone's Gold Coast Australia location. In 2008, he accepted an assignment with Embed in Dubai, where he helped launch Embed's amusement POS systems in the Middle East. He ran the Dubai office between 2011 and 2013.

"We are excited to have Bala rejoin the Timezone team, as we have a big growth agenda for the concept in Australia," said Timezone Australia general manager Kane Fong. "Bala is already very familiar with the Timezone business and brings a wealth of experience from his time during the last few years working with Helix Leisure."
