ROSEMONT, IL -- Arachnid 360 hosted the 31st BullShooter Finals over a lengthened Memorial Day weekend, May 26-30, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare (Rosemont, IL). The five-day event drew players from all over the world.

Love Park, IL-based Arachnid, which was founded in 1975, launched the BullShooter World Challenge of Champions in May 1986. The company is an international pioneer in the development of electronically scoring soft-tip dart games.

This year's BullShooter finals were conducted in the convivial spirit that participants have come to expect. On Thursday, March 26, a four-person Monsters of The Midway team event was played for the early arrivals, in four divisions. On Friday the prestigious Top Gun events, with a single elimination format, was conducted in singles with four divisions and triples in two divisions.

The main events got under way on Saturday. The leadoff contest, '01 Doubles, was played by three divisions in men's events and three in women's. In a fiercely fought series, Spain's Jesús Perea-Noguera and Georgia's Danny Delfino prevailed.

This was followed by a 2nd Chance Men's Doubles for the men eliminated who wanted more playing-time, and by a Hammer Team Cricket match. Both events were 100% payback with $250 added to each. In the afternoon, a Pro and Pro AA Cricket Luck Doubles took place, followed by Mixed Cricket Doubles.

Sunday's schedule began with two fun Toilet Bowl events: the Luck of Draw Toilet Bowl Shootout and Super 13" Toilet Bowl Singles, with 100% payback plus an extra $500 added to each event.

These preliminaries were followed by Bullshooter's international parade and four-person team competition. Teams from Canada, France, Spain, Netherlands and the U.S. faced off after the teams marched in, accompanied by their national anthems. The two teams with the most wins -- Team Netherlands with eight and Team U.S.A. with 10 -- met in the bullpen to play a best of seven final round. Team Netherlands emerged victorious from the epic duel. The other main events played on Sunday were Women's Combo Luck in two divisions, Men's 501 Singles, Pro AA and Pro Mixed Cricket Doubles, and Mixed 701 Triples.

Arachnid reports that the parties on Saturday and Sunday night were enjoyed by all, with players dressing for the beach party theme on Saturday and the country and western theme on Sunday night. Prizes were given out all weekend at the party. Contestants who played in the day's events were eligible to win two free rooms at the Hyatt, two BullShooter Jerseys from Redeye Rhino, two new Galaxy 3 commercial-style home games and cash prizes for the best-dressed registrants.

In addition, $100 an hour was given to players in a random drawing from registration forms during the day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

On Monday, the Pro 501 Singles, Pro AA 501 Singles and Women's Cricket Doubles in three divisions were played. The last events of the day, and the 2016 tournament, were Cricket Doubles in three divisions.

The BullShooter tournament presents valuable player awards to contestants with highest point scores for the event. Points are based on placement in the main events and Top Gun events. Julie Weger (Normal, IL) earned the most points in the women's division, and Eric Blackledge (St. Louis, MO) is the men's division champion. Arachnid reports that the winners received BullShooter MVP rings in recognition of their achievements. Weger and Blackledge will also be representing Team USA at next year's Team Dart event, produced by the National Dart Association. | SEE STORY

"The tournament was a huge success with the weekend events running on time and the players having a great time," Arachnid summed up. Participants enjoyed the competition and the camaraderie, taking advantage of the event to renew acquaintance from previous BullShooter tourneys and forming new friendships.
