CHARLOTTE, NC -- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated said it has signed agreements with an affiliate of Coca-Cola Co. to expand the bottler's distribution territory to include parts of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and West Virginia, and to purchase manufacturing facilities.

Charlotte, NC-based Coke Consolidated will acquire the territories now served by Coca-Cola Refreshments USA Inc., a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Co., in Ohio (Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton), in Indiana (Indianapolis, Bloomington, Terre Haute, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Lafayette and Anderson) and in Kentucky (Louisa). The agreements also include the purchase by Coke Consolidated of manufacturing facilities owned by CCR in Cincinnati, and Indianapolis and Portland, IN.

Coke Consolidated will have the exclusive rights to distribute beverage brands owned by Coca-Cola in the acquired territories, along with other beverage brands not owned by the beverage giant that are currently being distributed in the territories by CCR.

The company expects to begin a series of closings for the territories and manufacturing facilities in the fall and to complete them in 2017.

Coke Consolidated said it is continuing to work toward agreements with Coca-Cola for the expansion of distribution territories in parts of northern Ohio and northern West Virginia; the purchase of a manufacturing facility in Twinsburg, OH; and the exchange of distribution territory in the southern parts of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi and a manufacturing facility in Mobile, AL, for distribution territory in parts of Arkansas, southwestern Tennessee and northwestern Mississippi and manufacturing facilities in Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR.

The bottler is also working towards a definitive agreement with Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United Inc. for the exchange of distribution territory in south-central Tennessee, northwest Alabama and northwest Florida for distribution territory in and around Spartanburg and Bluffton, SC.
