NEW YORK CITY -- PepsiCo is jumping on the healthy vending bandwagon with "Hello Goodness," a program it unveiled at the recent Beverage Digest Future Smarts Conference here.

PepsiCo said it will place several thousand themed vending machines throughout the U.S. in 2016 in a variety of locations, including healthcare, recreational, transportation, governmental, workplace and educational facilities.

The Hello Goodness vending machine, which will be available in snack-and-drink and beverage-only versions, features a selection of PepsiCo products that includes Naked Juice, Smartfood popcorn, Lay's oven-baked potato chips, Quaker Real Medleys bars, Pure Leaf iced tea, Propel electrolyte water, Tropicana juice and Sabra ready-to-eat hummus cups.

The Hello Goodness machine has dual climate-control shelving, holding both perishable and nonperishable items at the correct temperature.

The state-of-the-art vender features a digital point-of-sale touchscreen that displays nutritional information. Onscreen messaging suggests food and beverage pairing ideas for different eating occasions throughout the day. The "smart" equipment gives PepsiCo real-time consumer preference insights to guide future offerings.

"For years, PepsiCo has been transforming its portfolio to offer more and better food and beverages," said PepsiCo North America Beverages chief operating officer Kirk Tanner. "We're continuing this journey with our new Hello Goodness vending initiative, which brings together the power of our brands and our expertise in design, category management and equipment innovation."
