WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The New York State Automatic Vending Association held its sixth annual Herb Luckower Golf Tournament and dinner meeting on Sept. 20, at the Westchester Hills Golf Club here.

The annual event is NYSAVA's main fundraising event to support its advocacy efforts on behalf of the vending trade in the Empire State. Cocktails, dinner and a silent auction followed the golf tournament, which honors the late vending broker who was active in industry affairs and a longtime director of NYSAVA.

NYSAVA president John Murn of RSA Management Group and board member Michael Cascione of CC Vending (Bronx) urged meeting-goers to do their parts to get more industry members involved in supporting the association's lobbying efforts. In 2014, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law a bill that increases the state's tax exemption for goods sold through vending machines to $1.50. The victory followed years of tireless lobbying for the legislation. | READ MORE

Murn emphasized the role that operators and suppliers can play in advancing the industry's image by participating in the Taste NY vending machine program, which features products grown or produced in the state.

NYSAVA is a state council of the National Automatic Merchandising Association. NAMA's director of association services Pam Gilbert praised NYSAVA for providing a Taste NY machine for NAMA to showcase at its recent industry Fly-In advocacy event on Capitol Hill, which set an example for other states to follow. | SEE STORY
