PIEDMONT, SC -- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated will begin a new chapter in its 114-year history in South Carolina with the grand opening of its $13.5 million regional sales and distribution center here. Coke Consolidated said the new 150,000-sq.ft. facility, sited on 36 acres, will enable the bottler to more efficiently serve resellers and consumers in upper South Carolina and northern Georgia.

Elected officials, key customers and community leaders attended an open house today at Coke Consolidated's new distribution facility on Highway 86 in Piedmont. It brings 147 new jobs to Anderson County.

The new center will handle sales and distribution in Anderson, Pickens, Greenville, Oconee, Greenwood, Abbeville and McCormick in South Carolina, as well as in Carnesville, Hartwell and Lavonia in Georgia.

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, the nation's largest independent Coke bottler, is headquartered in Charlotte, NC. It formally moved operations to the South Carolina site in late spring. The regional sales and distribution center will run 40 routes daily and is projected to deliver more than 8.5 million cases annually. It is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment, and has a large training room that seats more than 60 people.
