CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association said it has partnered with Operation Homefront for NAMA's upcoming DC Fly-In to allow vending industry members to give back and deliver relief to military families.

Operation Homefront's Back-To-School Brigade provides military children with backpacks filled with school supplies, enabling them to use their income for other household expenses. According to Operation Homefront, as more schools ask for contributions toward classroom materials, parents plan to spend more than $100 per family on school supplies. That's 12% more than last year.

"In the planning of the 2016 DC Fly-In we felt it was important to include a service aspect to the event," said NAMA senior vice-president of government affairs Eric Dell. "The partnership with Operation Homefront will allow industry members to directly impact the lives of military children by purchasing backpacks, whether or not they personally attend the Fly-In."

Backpacks purchased and donated by the industry will be filled at a later date with donated school supplies from other donors.

"Operation Homefront is excited about the opportunity to partner with NAMA and we look forward to a backpack presentation during the DC Fly-In Dinner in July," said Operation Homefront regional director Vivian Dietrich.
