CAMA Smart Pick MISSISSAUGA, ON -- The Canadian Automatic Merchandising Association has unveiled a program that identifies and encourages the selection of "healthier" products in vending machines and micromarkets.

Called Smart Pick, the turnkey program was developed by dietitian April Saunders in conjunction with a CAMA committee. Smart Pick is the result of their research, which involved the review of existing healthy vending programs and nutrition-related literature, along with local, national and international nutritional guidelines for healthy snacks and beverages.

The CAMA program is available exclusively to its members. They must offer a minimum of 20% of Smart Pick selections to meet the criteria, the details of which CAMA did not specify.

In the U.S., the National Automatic Merchandising Association introduced its Fit Pick healthy vending guidelines 11 years ago, and revamped the program in 2014. | SEE STORY
