SAN FRANCISCO -- Cantaloupe Systems Inc. has appointed Brett Powell to the newly created position of vice-president of sales. Powell will lead the wireless solution provider's efforts to expand sales and strengthen its resources to support full-line vending operators.

Powell has held a number of executive management roles over the past 20 years, including director of business development at BrainPlay.com, acquired by KBToys, and senior vice-president of sales at Covario Inc., a provider of SaaS (software as a service) solutions for search engine marketing and optimization.

In addition, Powell served as general manager of sales at MarketTools Inc., a market research firm. Most recently, he was founder and chief executive of A10 Power, a solar power solution provider located in northern California.

Cantaloupe chief executive Mandeep Arora said Powell's breadth and depth of knowledge in SaaS solutions and consultative experience in business development will assist Cantaloupe in driving sales of Seed, a SaaS-based model.

"With the upcoming release of Seed Cashless and our stimulus pricing program in effect, we anticipate large sales gains in the coming months with our full-line vending operators," said Arora. "This enhanced focus will increase our momentum of bringing new machines online and onto the Seed wireless vending platform."
