SAN FRANCISCO -- Cantaloupe Systems' cloud-based VMS tool can now schedule, prekit, service and manage self-checkout markets alongside vending machines, with no need to retrain or switch among multiple IT systems.

With Seed Micromarket Integration, route drivers only need one handheld device to service both vending machines and micromarkets. Seed's mobile photo audit is also available through the integration, making it easy for drivers to take pictures to verify micromarket cleanliness and planogram accuracy online.

The first micromarket supplier to implement Seed Micromarket Integration is The Market by Imperial, a new micromarket solution from Imperial Co. (Tulsa, OK).

"After deploying more than 50 micromarkets, gross sales were up, but margins were getting hammered by increased operations costs," said Craig Hunt, Imperial project manager. However, because Seed can manage both vending and micromarket operations in one system, he explained, Imperial's self-checkout installations are now seeing higher profits.

Cantaloupe said other micromarket suppliers are currently finalizing their implementations of Seed Micromarket Integration, and additional partners are planned throughout 2013.
