CHICAGO -- Shelly Olesen, vice-president of sales and marketing for C. Cretors & Co., has been honored with the National Association of Concessionaires' Bert Nathan Memorial Award for 2012. The award will be presented in a ceremony at the second annual CinemaCon convention and trade show in Las Vegas on April 24.

Olesen began her career with Cretors more than 20 years ago as western regional sales manager. She advanced steadily, becoming senior marketing manager responsible for developing the North American theater market before assuming her present post, in which she directs the company's overall domestic and international sales and marketing efforts.

She also was the key organizer of Cretors' gala 125th anniversary celebration in spring 2010. Held at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, the event doubled as a tribute to the concession industry. The more than 400 guests included local celebrities, community leaders, vendors, studios and customers from 48 different countries. In overseeing the fête, Olesen worked diligently to ensure that it also would benefit the community; as a result, more than $35,000 was raised for Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE), a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding the arts in Chicago Public Schools.

Olesen is active in NAC and other industry and civic organizations. She received the Friends of Exhibition/National Association of Theater Owners Great States Convention award in 2005, and the Person of the Industry Award from the Tri-State Independent Theater Association in 2009.

The Bert Nathan Memorial Award is given annually for concession industry leadership and achievement. It was established to honor the memory of Bert Nathan, a past-president of NAC; recipients are chosen by previous award-winners. This year's presentation, the 28th, will be made by NAC president John Evans, Jr.

CinemaCon is staged annually by the National Association of Theater Owners; its trade show is organized in cooperation with NAC and the International Cinema Technology Association as partners. This year's CinemaCon is set for April 23 through 26 at the Caesars Palace hotel and casino.

C. Cretors & Co., established in 1885, is a leading international designer and manufacturer of food processing and concession equipment.
