NRA Show Spotlights 2009 Food Trends, Competitive Solutions

Foodservice professionals from around the globe attending the upcoming National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show will find new products, ideas and resources to help address current challenges and succeed in a tough economy. The show's 90th annual run is set for May 16-19 at Chicago's McCormick Place.

The exhibit floor, open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will showcase industry innovations ranging from the hottest food and beverage products to state-of-the art kitchen equipment and technology.

Showgoers can personalize their schedules and make appointments before and throughout the show by searching the entire 2009 show database for the people, products and information that meet their unique needs. The networkNow! search engine, accessible online now at and at kiosks throughout the exhibit floor, creates a customized booth route, schedule and contact list.

NRA has partnered with the Foodservice Consultants Society International to provide a new service to showgoers. "Ask the Design Experts," located on level 3 in the South Hall, will feature free 30-minute design and management consultation sessions with leading front- and back-of-house designers, as well as management advisory consultants. The one-on-one sessions, addressing everything from design to kitchen improvements, brand strategy, training manual development and strategic business planning, are available exclusively to the show's restaurant and foodservice operator attendees. Appointments for consultations may be booked on a first come, first served basis through the 2009 show website,, by May 2.

More than 65 free education sessions will bring operators up to date on restaurant industry trends and issues, with separate tracks devoted to food and healthy living; jobs and careers; profitability and entrepreneurship; sustainability and social responsibility; and technology.
