Namco Bandai's Net Sales Grow 7.3% In FY2013

TOKYO -- Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. reported that its net sales grew 7.3% for its 2013 fiscal year. Sales for the year totaled ¥487 billion ($5 billion), compared with ¥454 billion ($4.7 billion) in the fiscal year prior.

Namco Bandai's net income for the year ending March 31 was ¥32.4 billion ($335 million), a 67.8% increase compared with ¥19.3 billion ($200 million) last year.

Regional sales saw substantial gains. Net sales of Namco Bandai products in Japan increased 7.3% year-over-year to ¥406 billion ($4.2 billion), while sales for the Americas rose 38.3%, finishing at ¥33.6 billion ($347 million).

Namco's arcade game machines saw full-year sales of ¥71.8 billion ($743 million) in 2013, compared with ¥73.4 billion in 2012. Sales generated by amusement facilities in 2013 was ¥60.2 billion ($623 million), compared with ¥61 billion the year before.

Namco Bandai Holdings Inc., a joint stock company, was formed in 2005 when videogame-maker Namco Ltd. merged with toy manufacturer Bandai Co., creator of Power Rangers, the Tamagotchi virtual pet, Astro Boy and other properties.
