MCHENRY, IL -- Healthy U Snacks announced that it has won the snack vending contract for Illinois's McHenry County Conservation District.

The Healthy U Snacks vending machine is located in the new Glacial Park Lost Valley Visitor Center and provides the only source of purchase snacks for the many outdoor enthusiasts who visit the 3,300-acre park year-round.

Healthy U, based in McHenry, IL, and founded in 2009, said it was chosen by the Conservation District for its commitment to healthy snacking options that contain only all-natural ingredients and are locally sourced and certified organic whenever possible. In addition, Healthy U Snacks' vending machines use LED illumination and high-efficiency compressors for refrigeration, which park officials said is important toward creating a "green" functioning building.

"Given our ongoing, district-wide wellness initiative and our goal to have the new Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park LEED Certified as a 'green' building, working with Healthy U Snacks is a perfect fit," said Deb Chapman, education services manager, McHenry County Conservation District.

LEED is the Leadership in Energy and Design rating system developed by the U.S Green Building Council.
