KalkomatKalkomat USA Inc. has responded to the widespread popularity of its classic punching-bag game by unveiling a model with a substantially smaller footprint. Called Spider, the new piece is designed to fit easily into locations in which limited floorspace or low ceilings make the original Kalkomat boxer problematic.

The company reports that the streamlining process achieved measurable reduction in materials, too, so the new piece carries a lower price tag. It's available without preinstalled coin mechanism or bill validator, so operators can use their own preferred payment systems.

A novel feature of the Spider boxer is its modular design, which permits the upper assembly to be detached from its base pedestal and attached to a wall mount, further reducing the space required for installation. Kalkomat's wall mount is designed to cushion shock and vibration from the game, and to muffle the sound of the patron's blows striking the bag. It does not damage interior walls.

The manufacturer points out that its original boxing game, available in a variety of versions including ticket redemption models, has been enthusiastically accepted by arcades. The slim-line Spider design is expected to find equal favor among street operators. In its free-standing configuration, it measures 88" high x 25" wide x 45" deep, and weighs 254 lbs. Mounted on a wall, its dimensions are 56" high x 20" wide x 45" deep, and its weight drops to 166 lbs.

Headquartered in Kraków, Poland, Kalkomat manufactures and markets a variety of kinetic interactive games, including a modern implementation of the fondly remembered strength tester, Hammer, and Kickoff, a football place-kicking simulator.
