NORWICH, CT -- Mini Melts Inc. owner Tom Mosey has transferred the company's ice cream manufacturing operations and distribution rights for Mini Melts in the contiguous United States to Mini Melts USA Inc., a distributorship owned by brothers Shawn and Dan Kilcoyne.

Mini Melts are cryogenically frozen ice cream pellets sold in cups through vending machines and by cart vendors; they're popular in such public venues as theme parks, entertainment centers, shopping malls and zoos. The product is available in more than 50 flavors worldwide in 27 countries.

The Kilcoynes have run the American distributorship since Mini Melts began its U.S. operations; it began producing ice cream in Florida in 2003. All U.S. production was consolidated into a 25,000-sq.ft. facility in Norwich, CT, in 2006. At full capacity, more than one million gallons of ice cream can be produced annually.

Mosey still owns the Mini Melts patents, along with the manufacturing equipment and plant being licensed by Mini Melts USA Inc. Mosey also will continue to oversee all international operations, a time-consuming effort that prompted the new business deal with his longtime distributors.
