GREENSBORO, NC -- Coca-Cola Life made its U.S. debut on Aug. 25 exclusively at select Fresh Market specialty grocery stores.

The lower-calorie version of Coca-Cola's namesake cola, sweetened with a blend of sugar and stevia leaf extract, was first introduced in 2013 in Argentina and Chile. Coca-Cola Life will be available exclusively at 65 Fresh Market stores in the Southeast in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina through mid- October. Nationwide distribution will immediately follow.

Coca-Cola Life has a third less sugar and a third fewer calories than leading colas. Sweeteners made from stevia are calorie-free and up to 200 times sweeter than table sugar. An 11-fl.oz. can of Coca-Cola Life contains 89 calories.

Pepsi introduced a similar product, Pepsi Next, in 2012. It also rolled out a real-sugar version of its iconic cola in June.
