VNEA Announces New Board; Elum Succeeds Hawkins As President

BAY CITY, MI -- The Valley National 8-Ball Association has introduced its new leaders, who will serve during the 33rd annual League Season. Named president is Tom Elum, Elum Music (Massillon, OH), and he succeeds Dave Hawkins, D&R Star (Austin, MN), in the post. Elum has been in the amusement business since 1962 as a principal owner of Elum Music, a company founded in 1930. The operation has been an active member of VNEA since 1987.

Judy Mehle, BMW Billiards (Loveland, CO), becomes first vice-president. Serving as second vice-president and treasurer is Ed Borgia, Warner Coin (Erie, PA). Marshall Kohtz, VVS (Lincoln, NE), is appointed third vice-president.

Charter holder director-at-large is Scott Morgan, Aactive Coin (Winnipeg, MB, Canada). He is the newest member of the VNEA board, and served on the association's executive committee as Rules chairman. Manufacturer director is Stefan Reichert, NSM (Bingen-am-Rhein, Germany), and Dave Courington of Valley-Dynamo serves as secretary.

VNEA is an international trade association established in 1979 as a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting the game of pool on coin-operated equipment. From an initial base of 2,500 members, VNEA has grown to a present enrollment of almost 100,000 men and women players who will visit their local establishments two or three times a week, and play more than 10 million games of pool in competition and practice. The association has 350 charter-holder operators.
