AUSTIN, TX -- Virtuix has announced that its new Omni virtual reality entertainment system will make its debut at the upcoming Amusement Showcase International in Las Vegas. The Expo's exhibits will be open on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 29 and Mar. 1.

Omni founder and chief executive, Jan Goetgeluk, also will participate in the inaugural Virtual Reality Educational Summit on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Goetgeluk, who designed the system, will offer insights and data on how location-based VR ("LBVR") operators can maximize their return on investment from VR attractions by selecting the right content and equipment for their specific audiences.

Virtuix and its global distributor, Unis  (Universal Space), will demonstrate the Omni entertainment system at the show. The Omni motion platform is the main component of Unis's award-winning Omni Arena VR attraction. Visitors can try out the Omni at booth #437.

In advance of the show, Virtuix also announced that it has shipped more than 2,500 Omni units through its global distributor network, which makes it the world's leading VR motion platform. Virtuix's distributors have installed Omni entertainment systems in nearly 500 commercial locations around the world.

This month, Virtuix added a new VR game, Vindicta, to its content platform, Omniverse. This is the Omni system's proprietary content-delivery and arcade-management platform, which now can offer Omni players a choice of 15 of the world's top VR games. Virtuix plans seven more game releases this year. Collectively, customers have played more than one million minutes on Omniverse-powered equipment to date. Click here to watch YouTube video.

"We're very excited to show our latest Omni improvements and Omniverse games at the Amusement Expo," said  Goetgeluk. "Ever since we launched our Omniverse gaming platform, the Omni has become an entertainment hit at VR arcades and top FECs around the world like Rec Room in Calgary (AB, Canada) or PlayTime Crown in Melbourne (Australia). We look forward to introducing the latest Omni technology to FEC operators from the U.S. and elsewhere."
INDUSTRY LAUNCH: Virtuix Omni system will roll out to the amusement industry at this year's Amusement Expo International. Omni, which has been demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show, incorporates a novel low-friction platform that works with special shoes to serve as a kind of virtual treadmill that supports the player by means of a waist harness and permits walking and running in any direction while remaining in one spot. It can be paired with any of several available head-mounted devices, and serves as the basis for the Unis Omni Arena networked multiplayer system.
