TIMES SQUARE, NEW YORK - (Posted March 11) Violence erupted at the upstairs nightclub of Broadway City Arcade at approximately 2:45AM on Sunday, March 9. One man began shooting into the crowd, hitting eight victims, while a second man stabbed two people, press reports said. The crowd screamed and fled for the exits. Police took two suspects into custody. The cause of the brawl appeared to be gang-type rivalry, although it did not appear that any known gangs were involved, police told reporters. One shooting victim and one stabbing victim were in critical condition, said the New York Times. At press time the arcade remains closed with a police guard outside. Patrons expressed shock at the events, noting that the arcade was known for careful screening and good security. Broadway City Arcade is operated by industry veterans Dick Simon and Walt Levine.
