ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- The Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council is calling on operators and industry suppliers to participate in the meetings, social events and golf at its annual conference. This year's get-together will be held from June 16 to 17 here at Caesars Atlantic City. The association, a state council of the National Automatic Merchandising Association, represents the industry in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Business gets under way on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with the annual membership meeting, which will offer an overview of the issues facing vending and coffee service operators at the local level and the measures the association is taking to protect its interests. Tri-State president Tony Buckholz of Goodman Vending (Reading, PA) will present an informative session on vending service calls. The industry collectively receives an estimated 37 million each year, and Buckholz will offer pointers on how to respond to customer requests in a timely and professional manner.

NAMA officials will provide an update on federal legislation affecting the industry, including the new healthcare law, calorie-disclosure requirements, ADA machine accessibility issues, and possible changes to coins and banknotes.

A membership reception and dinner banquet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will set the stage for an evening of socializing and networking.

The Friday morning golf tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. at the Ballamor Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. An awards ceremony will follow at 1 p.m.

The $149-per-person registration fee includes Thursday's meeting program, reception and dinner. The fee for Friday's golf outing is $100 a person. Room rates are $125 per night plus tax; call the hotel at (800) 345-7253 by June 1 and ask for the Tri-State rate.
