Tri-State Council Extends Scholarship Application Cutoff To May 23

ARLINGTON, VA -- The Tri-State Automatic Merchandising Council has announced that the deadline for submitting applications for the 2011 John Boyle Memorial Scholarship has been extended by a week to May 23.

The applicant must be an employee of a NAMA and Tri-State member organization involved in the vending, coffee service, foodservice or a related industry segment, with at least five years' seniority and holding a senior leadership or management position.

The successful candidate will receive full tuition to the upcoming Michigan State University/National Automatic Merchandising Association Executive Development Program, which will be held from Oct. 23 to 27, 2011. Total value of the award is $2,375, which covers tuition, materials, daily breakfast and lunch, and two dinners. The winner is responsible for any additional costs, including travel expenses and four nights' lodging. Special room rates of $91 to $111 a night have been arranged with the conference hotel.

The applicant must provide recommendations from three current coworkers and a recommendation from a member of the Tri-State Council's board of directors.

John Boyle, a longtime industry veteran remembered for advocating tirelessly on its behalf, died on Oct. 6, 2010. He was 67. Boyle worked most recently for Elliot's Vending Co. (Huntingdon Valley, PA) as vice-president of sales and marketing. His vending career began in the early 1970s at Philadelphia's Macke Co. | SEE STORY
