WOODBINE, IA -- Tommy Gate reports that its new Cantilever Series of hydraulic lifts for commercial panel vans is entering full production.

The cantilever liftgate was previewed at the 47th Annual National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis this March, and prototypes have been undergoing final field tests. Now the production lines have been completed at Tommy Gate's manufacturing plant here.

The Cantilever Series, which is designed for vans like GMC's Chevy Express, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Nissan NV, is the result of a two-year design project. Tommy Gate's engineering team focused on operator safety and functional reliability. The company reports that the design objectives were met, and the new series also turned out to be convenient and aesthetically pleasing.

Tommy Gate's cantilever gates bolt onto the vehicle, so no welding is required for installation. Its large aluminum platform is corrosion-resistant and folds laterally when not in use, allowing easy access to the rear of the truck. It's compatible with pallet jacks, and fitted with standard cart stops and internal bridge mounts for "extreme cart-friendliness."

Tommy Gate has been producing liftgates for 45 years. Information and a distributor locator can be found online at
