WOODBINE, IA -- Tommy Gate has announced the availability of an all-new 3,000-lb.-capacity, high-cycle rail liftgate designed for attachment to stake and van bodies. An extension of Tommy Gate's preexisting product line of railgates, this lift is the first that the company has manufactured for a 3,000-lb. capacity.

Tommy Gate's engineers specifically designed the 3,000-lb. railgate for applications that require performing large numbers of lifting cycles in daily use. These "high-cycle" requirements necessitated the incorporation of a number of quality components, including machined steel rollers, dual-sealed ball bearings, hardened steel pulleys and composite bushings. The use of these parts provides steadier lifting action and reduced maintenance, the company reported.

The new "high-cycle" rail is offered with numerous standard features, including a class-exclusive safety trip bar that provides additional operator protection, a self-close and auto-open cam arm to enable hands-free platform opening and closing, steel rollers that ensure consistency of motion, a 12" platform taper to facilitate movement from ground to platform, and a three-lamp incandescent light kit.

More than three years of design, development and testing have been completed for the project, including 14 months of intensive field testing. The lengthy development period and focus on user feedback leads Tommy Gate to believe it has created an elite railgate for its class, according to the manufacturer.

Tommy Gate is a 45-year-old U.S.-based hydraulic liftgate manufacturer located in Woodbine, IA.
